Italy’s labour market recovered some of the losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, as latest ISTAT data shows.
There was a rise of 169.000 in the number of people in employment in 2021, an increase of 0.8%, as ANSA says.
In 2020 it recorded a drop of 724.000 people in employment (3.1%) compared to the previous year.
In the fourth quarter of 2021, the number of employed increases by 80.000 (+0.4%) compared to the previous quarter.
This was due to the rise in the number of temporary employees (80 thousand, +2.7% in three months), and less intensely, the number of self-employed (+11 thousand, +0.2%).
Opposed, permanent employees declined by 11 thousand, -0.1%.
