Gasoline prices at almost 2 euros per liter in Austria

The war in Ukraine is also beginning to have an impact on Europeans as petrol prices are skyrocketing, says Heute.

On Friday evening, an Austrian who filled up at the OMV petrol station on the outskirts of Vienna discovered that petrol costs more than it did a few days ago.

A liter of diesel costs 1,78 euros, a liter of Super 1,79 euros and a liter of Super+ costs 1,999 euros.

Even more, energy consultant Walter Boltz expects prices for households to at least double in the coming winter.

Boltz says that Austria is 80% dependent on gas supplies from Russia, although the Austrian state holds a 31.5% stake in OMV.
