8 in 10 Europeans approve economic sanctions against Russia, according to a recent survey coordinated by the European Commission.
This Eurobarometer survey shows large consensus among EU citizens in all EU Member States in favour of the EU’s response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The majority of Europeans think that since the war started, the EU has shown solidarity (79%) and has been united (63%) and fast (58%) in its reaction.
Even more, nine out of ten respondents (93%) approve providing humanitarian support to the people affected by the war and 88% of Europeans approve the idea of welcoming people fleeing the war.
80% approve of the financial support provided to Ukraine, 66% agree that ”Ukraine should join the EU when it is ready”.
Interestingly, 71% believe that Ukraine is part of the European family and 89% feel sympathy towards Ukrainians.
Europeans tend to approve financing the supply of military equipment to Ukraine, but it is a big difference between states
According to the survey, 33% of respondents ”fully approve” and 34% ”tend to approve” financing the supply of military equipment to Ukraine.
It is important to note that only 13% of those in Cyprus ”fully approve” the supply of military equipment to Ukraine, followed by Bulgaria (14%), Greece and Slovenia (16%).
